In 1964, he was invited by the National Institute of Health, NIH to study the Guamanian neurodegenerative, Lytico-Bodig, endemic disease of Guam.

Abstract: The Guam Memorial Hospital Association, GMHVA, founded in 1965 by the late Cecilia Cruz Bamba to provide a bridge between the hospital and the island community. The GMHVA is a non-profit organization whose membership consists of dedicated individuals who through their gift of time, talent, and personal interest, supplement the professional staff in caring for the comfort and welfare of the patients, staff, and visitors to the hospital. Charter members: Margaret Jones, Delfina Guerrero, Dinang Manibusan Clementina "Tina" Perez, Mariquita "Tita" Souder and Marian Johnston.

Abstract: On 8 February 2021, the Department of Administration in accordance with 5 GCA Section 20608, transferred to MARC four volumes containing reports of death from the Guam pre war era. Vol. VII of the year 1906, containing 200 reports. Vol. VIII of the year 1907, containing 198 reports, Vol XIV of the year 1911, containing 200 records and Vol. VIII of the year 1944, containing 216 reports of death. The reports from years 1906 and 1907 are in Spanish and English. The records from 1911 and 1944 are in English. A finding aid listing the names on the records is available at the footer of this page. A digital image of a single record could be requested via e-mail to the Manuscripts Collection.
