dc.description.abstractDr. Jose Quinene Cruz is the son of Jose Reyes and Ana Quinene Cruz. He is married to the former Teofila Sholing Perez. Dr. Cruz's extensive career in education began as a teacher at Mt. Carmel Junior High School in 1969. Dr. Cruz earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Guam and a Master's equivalent in rehabilitation counseling from San Francisco State University. He received his Doctorate in Education from Western Michigan University. He began his university career as a part-time assistant professor and instructor of public administration and management courses in the College of Business and Public Administration, 1979-83. In 1983, he joined the office of the governor and became the governor's special assistant on education and boards and commissions. The following year he was named university president by the UOG Board of Regents. He remained with the university as an associate professor in the College of Education following his tenure as president. Source: I manfayi, whos who in Chamorro history. (1995).
