Abstract: In 1950, John A. Bohn assisted Judge Albert B. Maria, then Chairman of the United States Judicial Conference, Judge of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and Chief Judge of the Emergency Court of Appeals, to set up Guam’s court system. He served as legal counsel for the territory’s Legislature and practiced law. In 1976, John A. Bohn filed suit on behalf of Guam to recover land he charged had been taken by the U.S. Navy with only minimal compensation. The collection includes all those civil cases and related documentation. John A. Bohn, chief architect of Guam legal system died on December , 1986. He was 75 years old.
Description: The Collection of papers consist of 72 linear feet of documents and 2,000 microfiche. His papers were donated to the Micronesian Area Research Center in 1990. The Collection is open to the public with no restrictions.
