Dr. Chih Wang’s Accomplishments in 1989-2006, as Dean / Professor of Learning Resources, University of Guam

Abstract

The work highlights Dr. Chih Wang’s primary activities, when he served as Dean / Professor of Learning Resources (LR) of University of Guam (UOG) in 1989-2006, including: (1) Renovation of the new library building; installation of the Dynix library system; acquisition of OCLC services, CD-ROM databases, and connection with Internet; offering information awareness programs. (2) Initiation of library instruction; promotion usage of the library; establishment of a separate East Asian Collection. (3) Reactivation of Guam Library Association and founding of Pacific Islands Association of Libraries and Archives. (4) Implementation of Guam Governor’s Conference on Library and Information Services, and participation in White House Conference on Library and Information Services (WHCLIS). (5) Dr. Wilfred P.
