I came to UOG in 1988, retired in 2015 to do more research, became Emeritus in 2016. That research is on biodiversity of microscopic algae, and my students and I are presently deep into exploring diatoms in mangrove mud--I call it "beautiful mud" because of the amazing species we are finding. While employed at UOG my main accomplishments were a textbook for the introductory environmental biology course (two editions), two editions of a textbook on seaweed biology, ten years of NIH funding for the RISE Program, 25 years editing Micronesica, and a large collection of diatoms from the region.en_US
